Embodied Psychotherapy

Online Therapy in Michigan

Real change begins when you slow down to listen.

In somatic therapy, we gently attune to what’s present. We listen not only to your thoughts, but to what your body is sensing. Whether that’s tension, numbness, or something wihtout words- we will explore it together at your pace. Somatic therapy can help to develop a different relationship with your inner experience. We will tune into presence, trust and curiosity.

You don’t have to have it all figured out before reaching out. We begin from wherever you are.

Danielle Thornes, LMSW

I’m Danielle, a somatic therapist serving Michigan residents. My work supports those who are drawn to a slower, embodied way of being with themselves. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed or are ready to explore yourself more deeply- we work together by listening to your body and allowing what’s true to emerge. I integrate EMDR, somatic principles and mindfulness based approaches to support meaningful change from the inside out.

What We Can Explore

01

Body Awareness

You may already be attuned to your body, or on the contrary, may feel mostly disconnected from it. Wherever you are on the body awareness spectrum, this work invites you to build awareness of sensation, emotion and signals from your nervous system. This exploration can help grow capacity to feel and sense yourself.

02

Parts of Self

Many peple come to therapy feeling like they’re pulled in different directions. In our time together, we slow down and pay attention to subtle parts within you. We notice these parts without judgment so you can relate to yourself with more clarity and compassion.

03

Patterns Held in the Body

Trauma, habits, tension and stories can live in the body. The space we create in sessions invites those patterns to surface, shift anad re-organize. This happens not through force, but through gentle awareness.
