About Me
Danielle Thornes, LMSW
I’m Danielle. I’m here to help you embrace the highly-sensitive and powerful person that you are.
I became passionate about mind-body techniques and somatic therapy through my life-long fascination with psychology. I am a highly-sensitive person and have felt things deeply throughout my life. After discovering a multitude of ways to connect with myself effectively, I became inspired to help others.
I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Michigan State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher with 500 hours of training and an EMDRIA approved EMDR therapist. I am currently a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in training through Somatic Experiencing International.

My values
01
Intersectionality
I acknowledge gender identity, race, physical ability, class, sexual orientation and how these things intersect in a person’s unique experience. We will openly explore your personal experience of intersectionality in therapy.
02
Connection
In order to learn, you have to feel safe first. My approach to therapy goes beyond tools and directly opposes a “fixing” mentality. Change and growth begin with connection and acceptance. You are not broken. You are supported and whole.
03
Health and Wellness
I value focusing on the whole person when addressing any concern, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual. When we take care of ourselves, we can show up better in other areas of our lives and have a pleasurable experience in our own.
